What does Pass A Criminal Background Check mean on an employment application ?
November 20th, 2009 | by admin |Jen asked:
Does it mean…..
Does it mean…..
No arrests ?
No convictions ?
No felony convictions ?
All the above ?
Does it depend on the company ?
I mean, if you think about it, everyone knows somebody that has been arrested. And everyone at the company that asks to pass a criminal background check has a clean record, I doubt it.

It does depend on the company. I’ve been through several background checks. One company was only worried about felony convictions. While the others looked for any conviction. Few companies will disqualify you only for an arrest, because you could have been falsly arrested, or the charges dropped. Most companies look at convictions instead of arrests.
It all depends on what the company is looking for. But be honest about it; the worst thing you can do is lie. That’s an automatic disqualification!
