Criminal Background check

I have a interview with Guess Canada and need to fill out the application. I do have a criminal background check, and fear that if I say yes on the application my consideration would be nullified. I really need this job and really need to know if they actually follow through and do the full search.

I work for a large hospital in Wisconsin and they recently decided they were going to send out a criminal background check survey to ALL hospital staff. They are claiming they are choosing to apply the four or five year background check required by the Caregiver law to ALL hospital staff. I work in IT and NEVER have patient contact. This seems fishy to me besides just being insulting. I was honest on my application and nothing has change in my criminal histroy (or complete lack there of) since my hiring almost four years ago. They also said if we did not fill out this form and return it we would be fired. Beyond applying the caregiver law to non-caregivers I thought it was illegal to force someone to fill something out / sign something under duress of their job? I know this doesn’t replace consulting a lawyer but looking for some guidance on where I stand and what my options are. Thanks to anyone with legal expertiese that can help.

Does it depend on the company ?

I mean, if you think about it, everyone knows somebody that has been arrested. And everyone at the company that asks to pass a criminal background check has a clean record, I doubt it.

He is paralyzed with fear at the prospect of searching any of the online resources for this information and, of course, does not wish to ask a member of law enforcement, so he was thinking that his pending case with Social Security would include a criminal warrant and background check and settle the matter. Ok to make this short and sweet , Monday i’m going to apply for a security guard job and they are required to make anyone submit to a criminal check . I’ve got a couple things that might hinder it , such as 8 days in another state’s prison for accesory to theft as i was the owner and driver of the car . then some cigs about 10 yrs ago ,the accesory thing has since passed .Any suggestions?serious ones only please.

I read on numerous websites that i could go to any police department and for a fee could get a background check on myself. Unfortunately, I tried this and several policemen emphatically told me that it is illegal for them to do background checks on anyone who is not a criminal. Now, I know a certain jobs in the US require background checks, but in these cases the employer provides a fingerprint form. How can I get a check that the Korean government will accept?

Mr. Perfect, obviously if I took the time to post the question then it must matter to me which one is done first, otherwise I’d have never asked…
