Arrested for petty theft, put into a program, does it show up on a criminal background check?

I am applying for a job with the county and they performed a criminal background check. Last November, I was arrested for petty theft and placed on a program, I believe it was deferred prosecution so i am wondering if this will show up on a background check or if it will prevent me from being hired. The job is as a lifeguard.
Anything?

if you were convicted..sounds like you were bc you were sentenced it will show up…depending on how in depth companies want to go they can find out how many traffic violations you have gotten…they prob wont hire you even tho it doesnt have anything to do with what you are doing. no one wants to hire a thief. sorry

If the case was deferred, it hasn’t been decided yet. If you follow the terms of your program, and get satisfactory progress reports, your case will be dismissed in the end.
Usually this type of deferred prosecution is a one shot deal. Don’t mess up again, because you won’t get a second chance. Good luck.

The prosecutor should drop the program however you arrest may still show up on criminal background check even after the prosecutor should drop the charges against you arrest may still show up on criminal background check even after the charges are dropped.
